Spoonful of Sugar
Nanny Placements
Who We Are...
Spoonful of Sugar is an agency serving the greater Seattle area,
who is dedicated to placing top-quality nannies with the families
who need them, as well as to offering on-going support after the
placement.
What We Do...
Through a detailed application process, we create a profile of
nannies and families, in order to best match the RIGHT nanny
with the RIGHT family.
Our Goal...
To place nannies who will love and nurture the children they care
for, and become a lasting part of the family.
To make the benefits of an agency accessible and affordable to
the average family.
How We Are Different...
At SOS, we believe that the relationship between a nanny and a
family only just begins at the interview. While many agencies deal
only with finding a placement, we take the process a step further,
providing information for the family on how to handle all of the
details of day-to-day life with a nanny, as well as ongoing support
to confront any difficulties that may arise.
By joining our co-op, our nannies are able to attend a monthly
support group, in order to connect with other nannies and kids in
the area, and are provided with a monthly newsletter containing
information about upcoming children's events in their area, as
well as childcare advice columns written by other nannies.
We also hold an annual workshop, where nannies have the
opportunity to renew their CPR and First Aid certifications, and are
able to participate in childcare lectures and Q&A sessions.
By keeping our rates low, we are making the benefits of an
agency much more accessible.
How We Got Started...
I have spent ten years as a professional nanny. During this time, I
have worked with several different agencies in several different
states, and have time and time again been disappointed with the
impersonal application process, the unrealistic costs to families,
and especially with the lack of ongoing support.
Here at SOS, we strive to offer the level of services which we
ourselves would appreciate, and to maintain the sort of
relationships that are essential to creating happy nannies, happy
parents, and, most importantly, happy children.
